Natural Kids: Wash Day/Detangling–Make it easier for her and you!

Mommy nooooooo!!!!!! *chases child around room with comb*

Does this setting sound familiar to you? As a kid with a lot of hair, my mom (and aunts) were often overwhelmed with my hard to manage hair. Tired arms and tears where the norm. Well those days are no more with simple practices that can make washing her precious curls a breeze!

These are the tools you will need

Grab some toys, coloring books, and movies they will help keep your little princess occupied. Snacks are great too! TAKE BREAKS if she begins to get antsy let her stretch and grab a drink of water. You want this experience to run as smoothly as possible.

Finger detangling is your best friend!! Spraying a conditioner mix (w/plain H2O) will help “melt” those tangles and knots. The conditioner I used (pictured above) is a cheap conditioner by VO5  I found at Meijer. You can use whatever you have on hand.

1. Saturate hair with conditioner mix.

2.  Section hair in workable sections and secure with hair clips

3. Working one section at a time. Begin separating any tangles or knots with ONLY your fingers.

4. GENTLY comb out any further tangles with a shower comb or paddle brush. If you run into a ‘trouble’ area STOP combing and work out the tangle with your fingers and proceed with the comb.

5. Braid (I find that these stay together better than twist) the detangled section.

6. Continue until entire head is detangled.

I found a great YouTube channel GirlsLoveYourCurls that has some great ino and styles for your little curly! Check out her Facebook page too here.

Spring Trend 2012 Pleated Maxi

There is nothing more classic and chic than pleats! A new style trend for the upcoming spring season is the pleated maxi. Naturally Chic did a great post  >>here << on how to rock a pleated mid-length/maxi. Don’t be afraid of bright colors and mixing textures. Statement jewlery are an effortless option to pull the entire look together.

  • (First Pic) I love the color blocking and different lenghts of this skirt. A nude crop top works well not pulling the attention away from the skirt.
  • (Middle Pic)Look at our First Lady looking oh so FAB! in her pleats!
  • (Last Pic) The metalic maxi and skiny belt are from different ends of the spectrum but it works.

Miranda Kerr is looking oh so stylish in black on black!

Soho Makeup Brushes *First Impression* and French Twist Updo

Happy MLK Day!

I’ve used a couple of the Soho Brushes from Walmart twice already. So far I can tell a major difference between them and the E.L.F. brushes I purchased from Target. I’m not knocking E.L.F. it’s a great starter brush/eye palette for beginners like myself. I used the eyeshadow brush, smudger, and foundation brush. First the Soho brushes are noticelably softer. I used the same eye primer by E.L.F. but for some reason the color POPPED a lot more! I forgot to take pics from both days. But I do have some.  I think the Soho brushes picked up the pigment better and the entire look came together even more with the smudge brush. Foundation by L’oreal True Match, mascara by NYC. What ya think?

I’ve been wanting to try CurlyNikki’s look, the french twist. I used a banana clip and bobby pins to achieve the “twist” and the scarf from Dollar Tree.

Blazers,blazers,BLAZERS!!!

If you haven’t figured it out by now, I have a soft spot for blazers! They are one of THE most hottest trends right now. The great thing about blazers, you can find them almost everywhere! I’m sure my fellow thrifters can agree 🙂 A blazer can turn a regular pair of jeans or pencil skirt into instant glam with a statement necklace and a blazer. Pair it with a large clutch and you’re ready to go! Blazers come in all types of patterns and textures. So there is definitely something for everyone. There’s the boyfriend blazer, the cropped blazer, and the form fitting blazer. Here are some of my favs.

So if you don’t own one grab one! A basic black blazer can be worn many many ways!! So have fun with it. You’ll be surprised how one piece can turn some of your favs into a whole new outfit 😉 Below you’ll see how I paired a basic black blazer with splashes of white and yellow. You’ll definitely be QUEEN BEE in this hot ensemble!
